Science and Spirits Success!
Jews are no stranger to the sciences but last Wednesday, the Museum of Science took it to a whole new level. The main exhibit hall of the Museum was decorated with Israeli flags fluttering from the rafters and facts about Israeli Innovation in every corner of the hall.
On Wednesday, May 5, GesherCity and the Israeli Consulate hosted “Science and Spirits” as part of the Israeli Innovation Festival at the Museum of Science. Science and Spirits was GesherCity’s 3rd Annual Spring event that celebrated Israel for hundreds of Jewish young adults in their 20's and early 30's, many of them new to Boston. Participants were able to browse the Israeli Innovation exhibit and general museum while listening to live jazz. Three featured speakers shared on topics ranging from CleanTech in Israel to Cancer Research to Israeli Start Up companies.

We had more attendees at this year's young adult Israel Event than ever before: over 400 people - roughly half of whom had never been to a GesherCity event before! This night reached out across different denominations and engaged the local Israeli community to a greater extent than our previous efforts. We drew support from our partner for the event, the Consulate General of Israel of New England, and our cosponsors YLD, Hagshama, and MASA.

Another successful co-sponsorship for this event was with Birthright Israel NEXT, which offered discounts to upcoming participants and alumni. Partnerships with Birthright on events like this one offer an excellent way to engage alumni in the Jewish community upon their return from Israel, and for others to begin their journey right here in Boston.
