We are excited to welcome hundreds of young adults (22-40) to our annual Open House Party on September 10th. In addition to meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends, you’ll have the chance to get to know over 55 different organizations with awesome opportunities for you to get involved in the Jewish community. Want to know who will be there and what you can talk to them about? As we count down to the big event, we’ll be giving you a sneak peek into just some of the many organizations that you’ll meet with these quick organization spotlights.

First up… Prism, the young adult arm of The New Center for Arts and Culture. We sat down with Laura Mandel, the Director of Prism, to find out more about her experience and what's on tap for the year!

Who are you and how did you get involved in the organization?

I'm an artsy crafty Jewish gal, and I came to run Prism because of it! I love that I spend my days hanging out with other awesome young adults in Boston, planning programs around cooking, crafting, dancing, music, books, and so many other things I love.

What do you love most about working with young adults?

We're fun! Nothing better than working with peers to create art and culture opportunities - things we all want to participate in.

What's new and exciting this year?

Our circles (small groups based on different areas of arts & culture) are new and doing a wide variety of different programming: plum cake baking for Rosh Hashanah, fused glass mezuzot making, a reading with Meredith Goldstein (Love Letters), and way more. We are also premiering our newly commissioned play about Interfaith relationships in November, so it's a big year for Prism! Of course Beyond Bubbie's Kitchen will be back in January, and yummier than ever!

What do you love most about Boston's Jewish community?

There's something for everyone with so many great people and organizations.

What are you looking forward to most about attending Open House Party? 

Seeing friends and meeting new people!

Answer: All over Boston! We aren't limited to a building and we have events in cool spaces all over town to highlight the best of the city.
