The States of Jewish Belief - this Thursday

Jewish beliefs - from the most fervently Orthodox to the determinedly secular - are magnificently inconsistent. Is there a core Jewish belief system? If so, who created it, and who is responsible for maintaining it? And how does the system attach to individual Jewish identity construction and observance?

Three nationally known Jewish thought leaders will tackle these thorny questions at the JCC in Newton this Thursday, March 29. Allan Nadler is widely recognized for his critical analysis of Hasidic Judaism. Avi Shafran is an editor of a weekly publicaion serving the Orthodox Jewish community. It's sure to be a spirited discussion! Joining them will be Art Green, Rector of the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College and recognized as one of the world's preeminent authorities on Jewish thought. Essayist and columnist Leonard Fein will moderate the proceedings.

The conversation begins at 7:30pm. The event is open to the entire community. Find out more on the JCC's website - www.bostonjcc.org/artsevents
