OBAMENORAH!

Last semester Tova Speter’s Art of Jewish Symbols and Jewish Spirit class was busy creating art that is now being celebrated beyond the walls of Prozdor! Students participated in an exciting opportunity to help with the “Obamenorah,” a menorah that was created by students around the country and given to President Obama in the White House in December. Thanks to the whole class for participating, and especially Lexi Knopf for writing a statement about how Prozdor “lights up its community” and Nina Baron for creating an image that inspired the glass mosaic component of the menorah. A picture of the Obamenorah and a smaller version made for Prozdor will be on display at an upcoming art exhibit in downtown Boston (see below). The smaller version will be used by the Prozdor community next Chanukah and hopefully for many years to come.

PROZDOR ART EXHIBIT

In addition to their work on the Obamenorah, Tova Speter’s Art of Jewish Symbols and Jewish Spirit class worked to create a total of 45 canvas paintings, 15 of which will be on display in an art exhibit in downtown Boston. For the months of February and March, the following Prozdor students will have their work installed for the public to enjoy: Nina Baron, Lexi Knopf, Elijah Gunther, Tasha Kaufman, Gabi Kaufman, Jossie Forman, Mickie Gusman, Jon Schwartz, Emily Belowich, Leah Levine, Rachel Levy, Isabel Wilker, Becca Lassman, Sarah Nunberg, and Sophie Miller. The art show will be up at CJP in downtown Boston and all are welcome to attend a reception on Wednesday February 24th from 4:30 – 6 pm at 126 High Street on the 9th floor. For more information contact Tova at tovaspeter@gmail.com. Hope to see you there to celebrate the artistic talents of our students!
