For the fifth straight year, Gragger!, the Workmen's Circle's Radical Purim Party attracted a multigenerational crowd eager to “boo” at the appropriate times and dance until the wee hours of the morning. Costumes ranged from Miss Frizzle and the Magic School Bus to a crew of Super PACs and a menagerie of wild cats. The shpiel delivered a powerful message about solidarity in times of economic crisis, mirroring today’s Occupy movement with flashbacks to the founding of the Workmen’s Circle and the Bread and Roses strike, plus a spirited interpretation of “Seize the Day” from the Disney cult-classic  musical, “Newsies”.   Oh, and we can’t forget about our new favorite band, Cirkestra, which kicked the party off with an hour-long set of Klezmer-inspired circus music, or the trifecta of fabulous DJs who kept us dancing for the rest of the night.  Here are a few photos of the night, so you can relive it if you were there or live vicariously if you weren’t (a shonde!) . . .
