Margie Bogdanow, LICSW, received her masters of social work fromSimmonsCollege and her BA in Russian language and literature fromBrandeisUniversity. Margie has worked for over thirty years with parents and educators in a variety of settings with the goal of making a difference in the lives of children. She co-founded and served as co-executive director of Parenting Resource Associates inLexington,MA. She has also been the associate director of the Early Childhood Institute atHebrewCollege. She is currently employed as a national Youth Specialist for theUnion for Reform Judaism and serves as a consultant to the Youth Educator Initiative of Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston. Along with other of her community involvements, she recently completed her term as president ofTempleIsaiah inLexington,MA. She lives inCambridge,MA.
Judy Elkin is a long-time Jewish educator and a certified personal and professional coach, working with individuals, couples, and professional teams. As a Jewish educator Judy has worked with adolescents, parents, parent educators, teachers and graduate students, and was the founding director of Ramah Family Camp.
Marjorie Freiman has worked in Jewish education in Boston for fifteen years and has taught children and adults of all ages. She was thrilled to teach one of the Parenting Your Teen… Through a Jewish Lens pilot classes. Most recently, she worked at the Rashi School as the social justice educator and family education consultant. She also served as the family educator and Limud director at Temple Beth Elohim inWellesley. Marjorie serves as the adult learning co-chair at TBE and is active in adult learning and caring community programs. She received a masters degree in Jewish education and a certificate in family education fromHebrewCollege.
Bonnie Glickman, M.Ed. consults with teachers, families, schools and employers. She has worked as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, curriculum developer, school counselor and private consultant. She founded and administered a school for high school dropouts inMontreal, which won an award from the Canadian Broadcasting Company. Ms. Glickman earned a bachelor’s degree in education, as well as masters’ degrees in reading instruction and special education atMcGillUniversity and a master’s degree in counseling at theUniversity ofVermont. She has worked extensively with children, adolescents and adults who have non-verbal and language-based learning disabilities.
Cheryl Harris attendedBarnardCollege, where she earned a B.A in English as well as teaching certification for students N-9. She went on to complete her graduate work at Teachers College,ColumbiaUniversity, where she earned an M.A. in Remedial Reading, an Ed.M in Learning Disabilities and an Ed.M. in School Psychology. Ms. Harris worked as a teacher of students with learning disabilities at The Ramaz School inManhattan for eight years. For the past twenty years she has worked as a school psychologist atSharonHigh School, inSharon,MA. During the summer months Ms. Harris has worked atCampYavneh inNorthwood,NH, as a teacher of Hebrew and as a Yoetzet, advising and supporting counselors in their work with campers ages 8-16. Ms. Harris also served with her husband, Jay, as a co-master of Cabot House at Harvard College for seven years, where they enjoyed daily interactions with students as well as planning and hosting events for students and staff. Ms. Harris and her husband have three children: a (married) son, age 27, a daughter age 24, and a son, age 21.
Laila Goodman has been teaching biology for over twenty-five years, first as a public school teacher and for most of her career in independent schools. Since 2005, she has taught biology atGannAcademy. She is currently the school’s dean of students. She leads a liberal minyan and a meditation group, and also teaches tefillah at the religiousschool ofTemple Ahavat Achim inGloucester,Massachusetts, her beloved town. Laila and her husband Barry Moir have two college attending children, one dog, one cat and six chickens who don’t reliably lay eggs.
Rabbi Marcia R. Plumb was the director of the spiritual formation program atLeoBaeckCollege inLondon, and has taught adult education classes for over twenty years. She led a “Parents Coping with Adolescents” group for three years. She also created and led a national program for adolescents across theUK. Rabbi Plumb is a trained Mussar teacher and Jewish spiritual guide. Originally fromHouston,Texas, she has lived inLondon for the past twenty years and recently relocated toBoston with her husband and two children (one of whom is a “tween” rushing toward adolescence).
