We finally made it to Israel!!!  Woohoo!


After meeting a representative of the Technion ConnecTech at the airport, we took the train to Haifa, and got to see the super-awesome Haifa Hillel.  What?  There are Hillels in Israel? I was happily surprised to learn that Israeli students also met to do Jewish activities with other students, just like our Hillel at MIT.  Guess this shows that Hillel programming is just as important when the majority of students are Jewish.

 Those of us who left from Boston even got to go on a little adventure to Switzerland!  When our connection flight to Newark was delayed, the people at United Airlines were kind enough to re-route our flight through Zurich with Swissair so that we could make it to Israel at the same time as the rest of the group leaving directly from Newark.  One of the airport employees, Andrew Swartz, was especially helpful in making sure that all of our bags made it to Israel, so we named our trip mascot “Andrew Swartz” in his honor.
Our connection flight from Zurich was with El Al.  I am always very impressed at how El Al goes out of its way to make sure that their passengers are very safe, and this time was no exception.

Another reason I love flying El Al is of course the delicious vegetarian-friendly hummus we get to eat!
