Quick Picks 5/30 - Post-Memorial Day Cleanse

Binged on BBQ yesterday? Can’t look at another hotdog and hamburger? Well, have we got a holiday for you! Next week is Shavuot, which is traditionally celebrated by eating all the dairy you could dream of. Cheesecake, ice cream, blintzes: go wild. (Sorry vegans.)

Shavuot commemorates the Israelites receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai, and aside from mass consumption of dairy delights, it’s marked by pulling an all-nighter of Torah study and reading from the Book of Ruth. So mark your calendar for next week’s late-night Shavuot celebrations: The Chai Center’s Shavuot Midnight Madness, the Cambridge Community Tikkun Leil Shavuot Extravaganza, and the Brookline Community Tikkun Leil Shavuot.

Enjoy this short week and look out for more Shavuot details in next week’s Quick Picks.
