This past Sunday, the Capital District community came out to support Jewish National Fund (JNF) and Israel at the third annual Susan Shpeen Memorial Walk for Water. This year’s walk was held in memory of Bob Ludwig and emceed by Liz Bishop, news anchor for WRGB.

Capital District President Ken Segel shared, “Our Walk raised much-need funds to help solve the water crisis in Israel. We are making a difference one drop at a time.”

Before the walk, a special ceremony was held to honor JNF board members who have served for five years. Each board member was presented with a beautiful citation of honor thanking them for their dedication and commitment to the land and people of Israel. Jane Golub also received her Sapphire Society pin, marking her entrance into JNF’s women’s major gifts division, an exclusive group of leaders helping to strengthen Israel – one community, one project, one family at a time.

“We’re so thankful to our supporters, specifically our major sponsors: JoAnn & Richard Berkun, Tri City Rentals, Price Chopper and Schuyler Companies. Additionally we are very excited to be welcoming Jane into the Sapphire Society,” said Sara Hefez, JNF Regional Director. “Our local President, Ken Segel, has worked tirelessly both locally and nationally in support of JNF, and we are better off because of him!”
