GBJCL trains volunteers of all ages. Most young volunteers serve through GBJCL’s partnership with the TELEM service learning program which engages teen and tweens in service through a religious school or day school setting, but 13 year old GBJCL volunteer Dina Cohn is a unique exception. We at GBJCL are proud to include Dina, a homeschooler, who along with her mother Orna Teitelbaum volunteers at the Jackson-Mann school. Orna and Dina each have developed a relationship with a kindergarten student to whom they read aloud. (For more information about the educational importance of reading aloud, see our March 19 blog post.) I recently asked Dina to share some reflections on her experience.
