Of all the new and exciting things to happen in Boston in 2010, one of the most exciting is almost upon is.

It’s the first time our city will have a mega Jewish learning event with international cache– Limmud.

I’ve been hearing about Limmud for years, since it started in England. They’re on the edgy side of Judaism, making learning hip and attractive to an atypical Jewish crowd. It’s where JDub records was born. Limmud is now in Atlanta, NY, LA, Colorado, Chicago and more.

I attended LimmudNY last winter and was blown away. I got to hear from mega Jewish personalities, craft my own stories in a Jewish writing workshop, understand the perspective of a transgender professor working in a Jewish college, and stretch out at a yoga session.

So it’s high time it came to Boston.

LimmudBoston is happening on Sunday October 31st at Temple Israel, Boston. In just one day, over 360 sessions will be offered on different Jewish topics. There are classes for kids, young adults, young professionals, older professionals, retires – what I mean is everyone.

You can study text, discuss social justice and politics, dance to Israeli tunes, meditate, craft a Chanukah gift, cook and taste in the kicthen, watch films, participate in storytelling, sing and shmooze.

Hear from heavy hitters like Ruth Messinger of the American Jewish World Service and best-selling author, Harold Kushner. Catch the online sensation Feed Me Bubbe for a rare chance to taste her food in person.

If you liked Jewbilee, or missed Jewbilee you need to be there on the 31st. LimmudBoston is like Jewbilee for the whole community. I’m personally giving another text study and cooking class at 1pm – I hope you’ll be there!
