A wide range of programs for families with young children is being offered this fall by Temple Emeth in Chestnut Hill. Early Childhood at Temple Emeth is presenting a variety of social, religious, cultural and fun experiences for preschoolers ages 3-6 and their parents.
These programs are designed to compliment the preschool experiences that these children may already be having, with enrichment and enjoyment being the fundamental guiding principals. Young families will have opportunities to meet and socialize with others who have similar experiences and interests; children attending the religious programs will begin their journey in Jewish education; children attending enrichment programs will explore new areas and develop critical age appropriate skills.
Upcoming programs (held at Temple Emeth, 194 Grove St., Chestnut Hill except for Gan Ma’or) include:
Singing in the Sukkah: Wednesday, October 8 at 1 pm
Preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to join us in the sukkah for holiday songs, stories and snack. Reservations required. Call 617-469-9400 or email email@example.com.
Simchat Torah: Thursday, October 16 at 6 pm
Young families are invited to join the Temple’s holiday celebration which includes singing and dancing followed by dessert and a sundae bar.
BYO Baby: Saturday, Oct. 18, 2 pm
Join Cantor Michael McCloskey, Temple Emeth’s Cantor-Educator, and his wife, psychologist Dr. Ray Feller, for a discussion on how Judaism can be incorporated into a busy family life: what Jewish texts and custom suggest in regard to the parenting of infants and young children and finding the right balance for new families. Bring your baby, the Temple will supply local craft beers. Babysitting is available.
Imagination Runs Wild: Wednesdays, 12:30-1:30 pm, Oct. 22-Nov. 19
This creative movement experience will include music and props that encourage imaginative play. Geared to preschoolers ages 3-5, the cost is $75 for the five-week program.
Taste of Torah for Tots: Thursdays, Oct. 23, 30, Nov. 6, 13, 20 and Dec. 4 from 12:30-1:30 pm.
Preschoolers will learn Bible stories through movement, music, arts and crafts. Cost is $65 for the six-week course.
Gan Ma’or: Sundays, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Dec. 21, Jan. 25, Feb. 8, March 8, March 22, April 12 and May 10, 9 am -12 noon at the JCC in Newton.

Tot Shabbat: Friday, November 7, 6:30 pm
Welcome Shabbat with a tot-friendly service followed by a community dinner. There is no charge but reservations are required. Call 617-469-9400 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Perachim Tot Shabbat Services: Saturdays, 10:30-11:30 am throughout the year.
A fun-filled hour of song, prayer, storytelling and activities geared for 2-5 year olds. Parents, grandparents and caregivers are welcome. Check the calendar at www.templeemeth.org for specific dates.
