Four Sons, and How Many Interpretations?! A Pre-Pesach Workshop with Rabbi Roy Rosenbaum

The Four Sons is one of the most celebrated passages in the Haggadah. Although it is brief, the narrative's many apparent inconsistencies and contradictions have inspired and elicited numerous explanations. We will look at a range of these commentaries and also consider how a knowledge of textual variants (girsaot) can resolve a number of problems.

Rabbi Roy Rosenbaum received his ordination from the Hebrew Theological College in Skokie, Illinois and his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Political Science from the University of Chicago. He has held senior staff positions in three Jewish federations and five national Jewish organizations. He has taught adult groups in Chicago and New York, and currently teaches Talmud and Bible at Maimonides High School.
