10th Anniversary Tu B’Shvat Seder

February 3, 2015 Boston 0

Come celebrate the new year of the trees and Nehar Shalom’s 10th anniversary!

Modeled after the Passover seder, the tu b’shvat seder celebrates the new year of the trees, giving mystical interpretation to a variety of fruit types.

The seder is a cooperative effort:

If your last name begins with the letters:

A-G, please bring any of the following: figs, grapes, apples, pears.
H-R, please bring any of the following: dates, olives, plums, peaches, avocados.
S-Z, please bring any of: pomegranates, melons, coconuts, oranges, kiwis, and nuts (in the shell).

These fruits and nuts are grouped in traditional categories, each with their own spiritual significance, which forms the framework of the seder.

We will also need a good supply of white and red wine and grape juice to help us from the dormancy of winter to the fullness of the harvest. Therefore, please bring a bottle of kosher wine or kosher grape juice; A-K: red, and L-Z: white.
