This event is kosher.

Join our Haifa guest speakers for a talk on the achievements and challenges of Ethiopian Israelis. An insider perspective will be given by Shlomo Berihun, Haifa Ethiopian Jewry Committee Co-chair; Mulegeta Nega, Haifa Ethiopian Jewry Committee Vice-chair; and Gadi Melacku, Shiluvim Center Director.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston and its Ethiopian Jewry Committee have been long-time advocates for Ethiopian Jewry. Shlomo Berihun and Mulegeta Nega are the co-chair and vice-chair, respectively, of the Haifa Ethiopian Jewry Committee.

Shiluvim ("integration") is a multi-year, comprehensive project to strengthen the community of 5500 Ethiopian Israelis in Haifa. It is a partnership between JCRC, CJP Boston-Haifa Connection, Haifa Municipality, and Haifa's Ethiopian Israeli community. Shiluvim's goals are to increase student academic achievement, strengthen adult employment, empower the family and community, ensure health care access and health education, and foster multicultural understanding within the broader community. Gadi Melacku is the manager of one of the Shiluvim centers.
