Koleinu 10th Anniversary Concert

Koleinu, Boston’s Jewish Community Chorus, will celebrate ten years of creating musical community with a premiere of a newly commissioned work, Sound the Great Shofar, by Israeli composer Osnat Netzer, on Sunday June 10 at 7:30 pm. This milestone concert will be held at Congregation Kehillath Israel, 384 Harvard St., Brookline, MA, and will also feature choral favorites by Leonard Bernstein, Yehezkel Braun, and Irving Berlin. Koleinuwill be joined on the program by Cantors Scott Sokol, Louise Treitman, Gastón Bogomolni, and special guests, the Boston City Singers. The concert is co-sponsored by its host, Congregation Kehillath Israel.
In the week prior to the concert, on June 6, Hebrew College and Koleinu will present a Meet the Composer Forum at 7:30pm at Hebrew College in Newton Centre where Osnat Netzer, Koleinu’s Artistic Director Carol Marton, and chorus members will discuss the unique approach to creating and preparing this composition. The forum is funded in part with a grant from New Music USA’s MetLife Creative Connections program, and is free and open to the public.
