Selichot: A Land Ethic and Teshuvah
Wayland, MA 01778
For our preparation for the Days of Awe 5773, we will view the film Green Fire, from the Aldo Leopold Foundation, a movie about Leopold's sense of land ethic and his evolving views on the land. This film will be a trigger for conversation about our own connections to the land and how our sense of place and connection to the Earth informs our teshuvah, our re-turn to the Holy. We will begin the evening with a brief Havdalah service to end Shabbat. Readings related to Slichot will bookend the movie. Light dairy snacks will be served. Let us know if you can bring something.
Green Fire shares highlights from the extraordinary career ofconservationist Aldo Leopold, explaining how he shaped conservation and the modern environmental movement. It also illustrates how Leopold's vision of a community that cares about both people and land continues to inform and inspire people across the country and around the world, highlighting modern projects that put Leopold’s land ethic in action in a multitude of ways.
