Tisha b'Av: Aveilut (mourning) or Teshuvah (repentance)

Already Occurred

Brookline, MA 02445

Join Rabbi David Shapiro for a pre-Tisha b'Av shiur (class) analyzing the two haftarot read on Tisha b'Av. We will reflect on the relationship between these two themes of the day, mourning and repentance. Our exploration will include relevant passages from the Talmud and from Maimonides' Mishneh Torah

Rabbi David Shapiro is Rosh Yeshiva of Maimonides School and holds the Rabbi Yitzhak Twersky Chair in Talmud and Jewish Thought. He served as the school's principal for more than 20 years, and is the author of Mei-aphela Le-Or Gadol: Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik on Pesach, Sefirat ha-Omer and Shavu'ot.

Sponsored by Reva and Harvey Gertel and the Levovitz Family in memory of Mr. Abraham Levovitz, A"H.
