Embracing Waters: Raising Awareness of Abuse in the Jewish Community and Beyond

Already Occurred
Mayyim Hayyim, 1838 Washington Street,
Newton, MA 02466
This event is kosher. This event is wheelchair accessible.

Recognizing and honoring survivors of abuse, within the Jewish community, and beyond.

Art can simultaneously beautify and educate. Mayyim Hayyim is creating a sculptural bench in our garden as part of our Embracing Waters Initiative: Raising Awareness and Training Around Domestic Abuse in the Jewish Community. The bench will offer visitors a place to rest, to contemplate and to feel supported. Building the bench itself will be a healing process for those who participate, working along side the artist.

Together we can draw attention to the often silent population of survivors of abuse. During the week of June 22-28, our artist, Ellen Alt, will be on site and working with volunteers - survivors and their allies. We invite you and your friends to join us for volunteer shifts mixing and pouring concrete, forming the bench, digging, and working with wire mesh.    Call 617-244-1836 x 211 or write rosaf@mayyimhayyim.org to ask for Mayyim Hayyim's link to Lotsahelpinghands.com, a website that coordinates volunteers, to sign up. Thank you!
