Celebrate the Remarkable Jewish Women of Boston! Annual Mother’s Day Celebration and Brunch

May 10, 2015 Boston

Calling all great minds! Come celebrate the women who changed the face of Boston!

This year we will honor the women who brought life to the Yiddish theater and Jewish entertainment in Boston in the early 1900s, including some of the most famous names in Jewish entertainment, Sophie Tucker and Molly Picon. Join us for a kosher dairy brunch and a spectacular presentation by librarians Helaine Davis and Linda Stern in our historic sanctuary. Plus we will have craft and music activities for the kids so all the adults can enjoy the presentation. Inspiring, funny, and innovative, it’s the perfect way to spend the afternoon with the remarkable women in your life!

Guests are welcome to stay after the program for a free tour of the Vilna Shul and learn about our building’s own remarkable history.

RSVPs are sincerely appreciated.

About our speakers:

Helaine Davis is the third generation of her family to live in Greater Boston. With a professional library background that includes work in art and other special collections in public, academic and museum settings, she currently works as a consultant librarian, assisting individuals with their research in genealogy, American history, rare books, decorative and fine arts.

Linda Stern, originally from Rochester, NY, has lived in Greater Boston for most of her adult life. She has worked in educational settings from pre-school through community college as both teacher and librarian. Linda has developed curricula for several special projects and worked extensively with primary sources related to the abolitionist, suffrage and transcendentalist movements.
