The Wisdom of the Talmud — A 4-Session Class

November 25, 2014 Acton $0.00 - $15.00

Rabbi Lewis Mintz offers a 4-session class exploring the emergence of the ethical, spiritual and practical values of Judaism from the teachings of the earliest rabbinic sages, as expressed in the majestic work Pirkey Avot.

Pirkey Avot (the title variously translated as “The Ethics of the Fathers,” “The Sayings of the Fathers,” “The Teachings of the Founders,” etc.) is the best-known and most appreciated text of the Talmud. Called “one of the 2 or 3 most loved books of religious literature of the Jewish People”, its six chapters are filled with wise observations and practical rules for living a righteous and fulfilled life.

The class will meet 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. on four Tuesdays: November 25, and December 2, 9 and 16 at Congregation Beth Elohim, 133 Prospect Street, Acton. Pre-registration is required to ensure adequate materials. The class is free for members of Congregation Beth Elohim and $15 per session for non-members. To reserve a space contact Ezra Habif at the office at 978-263-3061 or ehabif@bethelohim.org.
