When Cure Is No Longer Possible: Guidance From ‘Halachah’ and Jewish Values

May 13, 2015

Rabbi Elliot N. Dorff, rector and distinguished professor at American Jewish University in Los Angeles, will share insights from the treasury of Jewish tradition regarding questions about suffering, quality of life and the place for palliative and hospice care at the end of life. Responding will be Dr. Lisa Lehmann, associate professor of medicine and medical ethics at Harvard Medical School, and Rabbi Sara Paasche-Orlow, director of spiritual care at Hebrew SeniorLife. A reception will follow. The event is co-sponsored by Hebrew College and Hebrew SeniorLife Hospice Care. This lecture celebrates the legacy of the Jewish Memorial Hospital and its decades of bringing values-based healthcare service to the community. We are grateful to the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel and Levine Chapel for their generous support in bringing Rabbi Dorff to our community.
