Connections to the Land: Windows on Israeli Society Through Literature

November 5, 2015 $36.00

Celebrated and impassioned teacher Rachel Korazim brings us insights into the inner Israeli discourse on contemporary issues through a lively conversation about modern Israeli literature. A knowledge of Hebrew is not required for engaging with the poems and prose of some of Israel’s best known writers as they confront the differences between the vision and the realities of life in the country.

Rachel Korazim is an enthusiastically received lecturer at the Shalom Hartman Institute
in Jerusalem. The New Center is proud to present her at two lunchtime events:

Thursday, November 5 – 2 Center Plaza, 7th Floor, Boston
Connections to the Land
The core Zionist narrative of Israel presents an unbroken, unwavering connection between the people of Israel and its land. While true, some individuals have at times felt doubts and offered critiques as they articulated their particular attachment to it. Works by Rachel Korazim, Nathan Alterman, Yehudah Amichai, Amos Oz, and others will be discussed.

Event Location: Back Bay Events Center: John Hancok Hall
180 Berkeley Street, Boston, Massachusetts, 02116
