Browsing Through Birke’s

A documentary film about a Jewish Holocaust surviving family, their quirky 50-year old downtown Lowell, MA clothing store and it’s eccentric owner.

People from all over the world have come to Lowell to rebuild their lives after struggle and
traumatic loss. On October 1st, this documentary film will be shown, plus representatives from Lowell immigrant groups will have table displays about their history, culture and experiences as well as panel and Q & A discussions led by immigrants from Cambodia and Africa.

6:00 – 6:45 PM – Light refreshments. Visit tables to learn more about the history, culture and experiences of many of Lowell’s immigrant communities.

7:00 PM – Watch “Browsing Through Birke’s” – documentary film

8:00 – 8:20 PM – Panel Discussion with Sonith Peou, a survivor of the Cambodian genocide, a yet to be announced survivor from an African genocide, and Szifra Birke representing the Jewish Holocaust.

8:20 – 8:30 PM – Q & A Discussion
