Lifesavers Speaker Series – The personal and ethical journey of volunteering during the Ebola epidemic: One physician’s story

March 10, 2016 Boston

The Vilna Shul, Boston’s Center for Jewish Culture, presents a new series featuring high-profile speakers, candidly sharing their stories.

Hear Dr. Bhadelia’s reasons for devoting so much of her life to caring for those suffering from Ebola and how she deals with her own fears and those of others upon her return from her trips to Sierra Leone. Learn about ethical issues related to care in West Africa, and hear stories from on the ground.

Made possible with a generous gift from Jason Weiner and Nicole Zatlyn, this ongoing series invites the community inside our historic building to hear fascinating stories from people saving lives every day.
Q&A. Light refreshments served. Dietary laws observed. All are welcome!

Join us before the conversation at 6:30pm for a tour of The Vilna Shul. Learn about the only remaining immigrant-era Jewish synogogue in downtown Boston.

Dr. Nahid Bhadelia is an infectious diseases physician at the Boston University School of Medicine and the Director of Infection Control and Medical Response at National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory (NEIDL) at Boston University..

The Vilna is a bustling cultural center located inside a nearly 100-year old synagogue building, the last of its kind in Boston. We are T accessible and $5 validated parking is available at 175 Charles Street (Charles River Plaza underground parking garage, next to Au Bon Pain).

Event is free but registration is appreciated.
