Why Did Sarah Laugh?
We will discuss the theme of feasting and laughter in the narrative of Abraham and Sarah. Are their responses to the promise of miraculous birth essentially different? Material from midrashic, literary and psychoanalytic sources will enrich our exploration.

An evening lecture entitled, "'She was what he had missed': On the Loss of Women" will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Congregation Mishkan Tefila.

$15 for one lecture
$20 for both lectures

Register now, for one or both lectures, at www.cjp.org/adultlearning.

Light refreshments served at both sessions. Dietary laws will be observed.

Dr. Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg is one of today's most original and compelling interpreters of biblical and rabbinic traditions, who draws on modern insights from literature, psychology and philosophy. She is the author of "Genesis: The Beginning of Desire," which won the National Jewish Book Award, and "The Particulars of Rapture: Reflections on Exodus." Her latest work, "The Murmuring Deep: Reflections on the Biblical Unconscious," was published in 2009. Dr. Zornberg teaches Torah to adults at institutions of higher learning throughout Jerusalem.
