Join us for our September Tzedek Salon to learn about the four Massachusetts state ballot questions you’ll encounter, how they ended up on the ballot and what you need to know about them before you vote!

There has been a lot of focus this election season on the top of the ticket and the presidential race. But there is a lot more that is also being decided on November 8!

Massachusetts will be making some big decisions about legalizing medical marijuana, funding for charter schools, farm animal cruelty, and expanding slot machine gaming. We’ll be digging into the process of getting onto the ballot and the meaning of a Yes or No vote on these issues.

There are also a number of local ballot questions, including one in Boston to adopt the Community Preservation Act. We are really excited to have Jamie Hoag joining us as our salon speaker! Jamie currently works as the Director of Government and Community Relations at the College of the Holy Cross. Jamie has extensive experience in federal, state, and local government, most recently serving in the administration of former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and as Director of Federal-State Relations for the Governor. Jamie also serves on the Board of Directors of the Mass LGBTQ Bar Association and the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, and is Co-President of the Boston Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society. He is also an adjunct law professor at Suffolk University Law School. We are thrilled to co-sponsor this event with the Boston Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society!
