Ganei Beantown: Beantown Jewish Gardens is excited to convene the fifth Annual Boston Jewish Food Conference on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Ganei Beantown: Beantown Jewish Gardens (www.beantownjewishgardens.org) is building community through experiential food and agriculture education rooted in Jewish text, tradition and culture.

Our conference will foster new dynamics and connections within the Jewish community by utilizing food and agriculture to discuss the intersections of justice, sustainability, and culture against a background of Jewish traditions and contemporary life. The day includes multiple workshops (in the kitchen and classroom) and culminates in a community Shuk (marketplace), featuring prepared by conference participants, Do-It-Yourself activities, kosher food sales, advocacy opportunities, tabling by community organizations and our silent auction.

Our focus this year is on the whole food system, and how in the age of industry, feeding millions and often lacking in transparency, we are pieces of this great puzzle. What are the inputs, outputs and ramifications of our food choices? In an effort to nourish our bodies and whole selves, we’ll examine the people, places, and systems that supply us with our food and take away the waste.
