Bridging the Gap: A Program for 7th-12th Grade Girls and Their Moms

May 3, 2015 Newton $90.00

This is a program designed to give moms and girls a chance to relax, connect, share, and learn through a variety of activities including arts and ritual. We explore the power of shared histories, and the use of ritual to create positive experiences, memories and Jewish identity together. It builds on the successful Beneath the Surface model of “just girls” and “just moms” activities and discussions as well as mother-daughter and full-group activities.

The goals of the program are to:

-Give participants a time and place to relax and enjoy each other’s company
-Provide opportunities, conversation starters and frameworks for exploring family ties and histories
-Provide a variety of activities – discussion, writing, ritual, arts and crafts and movement
-Connect moms and daughters with each other and with Mayyim Hayyim
-Equip moms and girls with some tools and resources for healthy communication

This two-Sunday program will take place on May 3rd and 17th, 2015, from 4:30 – 7:00pm at Mayyim Hayyim and will include a light dinner.

The cost is $90 per family; scholarship monies are available. Sign up deadline is April 26th.
