Sponsored by the TOS Social Action Committee

Refugees from around the world settle in Massachusetts each year. Will our state welcome those fleeing the war in Syria? Join the TOS community for a special Shabbat service as we hear from Ali Aljundi, Syria Project Officer at Oxfam America.

After working in the field of humanitarian relief in his home country of Syria, Ali Aljundi earned a degree in International Development from the Heller School for Social Policy at Brandeis. Today he is on staff at the relief and development organization Oxfam, where he helps serve the needs of Syrian refugee families, who, like his own family, have fled the violence and upheaval of the Syrian civil war. We will learn about Ali’s work with Oxfam and hear his unique perspective.

The picture above shows speaker Ali Aljundi and his son. The sign Ali’s son is holding says “You have to understand, noone puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land.”
