Adult Education Program: The Increase of Inequality in America – Giving Hope: Restoring the American Dream.  Dr.  Ira Silver, Professor of Sociology at Framingham State University will speak on the issue of increasing inequality in this country.  As Dr. Silver writes in his latest book, “We hear a lot these days about the growing rich-poor gap and how it is undermining the American dream. A telling indicator is that hard work is no longer the sure-bet ticket to getting ahead it once was.
In his book “Giving Hope” and in his presentation, Dr. Silver talks about how  second chances can be offered to Americans who have dim prospects for moving their lives forward without outside help. Its dramatic stories of personal transformation illustrate that so many of us have the power to enable people experiencing hard times to embark on paths toward success.
As always, the presentation is free and is preceded by a breakfast at 9:30 with the presentation beginning at 10 a.m.
