Hadassah Northeast Salon Series Presents: The Saturday Evening Girls

May 14, 2015

Hadassah Northeast (HNE) is presenting “HNE Salon Series: The Saturday Evening Girls.” Assistant Professor of Sociology at Penn State Harrisburg, Dorothy King, will discuss her research on the young Jewish and Italian immigrants, the Saturday Evening Girls, who lived in Boston’s North End in the early 1900s, and created the highly collectible Paul Revere Pottery.

These bright young women began as a library club, went on to publish a scholarly newsletter, and to host cultural performances. Currently, the Museum of Fine Arts holds an exhibit with 20 pieces of their Paul Revere Pottery.

Through this program, Hadassah hopes to locate and connect with local Saturday Evening Girl descendants who are now part of the vast Hadassah footprint. Hadassah’s Boston Chapter alone is comprised of 6,000 members.

Event Location: Hadassah Northeast
Hadassah Northeast, 1320 Center Street #205, Newton Center, MA, 02459
