This Shabbat following kiddush, young Israeli army veterans who now are students at Brandeis University will discuss with members of the congregation the book Like Dreamers: The Story of the Israeli Paratroopers Who Reunited Jerusalem and Divided a Nation, which traces the lives of an earlier generation of IDF soldiers whose members captured the Old City and Western Wall during the Six Day War of 1967 – a war that, as author Yossi Klein Halevi put it, “united Jerusalem and divided a nation.”  What are these young veterans’ views on the results of the ’67 war? How have their visions of their own future and Israel’s future been affected by it?
