“You shall not oppress your fellow. You shall not rob. The hired worker’s wage shall not remain with you overnight until morning.” Leviticus 19:13

Drawing on our Jewish tradition, we envision a just and equitable society that provides pathways which strengthen working families and our community at large. Let’s make that vision our reality,

 JALSA, along with our Jewish community partners, invites you to a forum about what you can do right now to achieve solutions to the economic inequality problems facing our state and society.

This forum will include:

·         Public policy experts providing knowledge and expertise on active legislation and ballot campaigns;

a)     An act establishing Paid Family and Medical Leave

b)     An act to establish a living wage of $15 an hour for workers in fast food and large retail establishments

c)      Increasing Revenue through a Fair Share Tax Amendment to Massachusetts Constitution

·         Testimony from members of our community and communities we stand with as allies about the need for a livable wage, paid time off to care for a family member or oneself, and affordable higher education.

·         Discussions on strategy, how we can play a meaningful role in these campaigns, and the skills and resources needed to respond to tough questions on economic inequality

·         An opportunity to practice these skills with our MA legislators in attendance
