Maccabees and Cheese! A Chanukah Celebration

December 10, 2015

Celebrate the Maccabees with other families as we light the fifth Chanukah candle together at Ready, Set, Kids! (284 Broadway) in Arlington on Thursday, December 10 from 4:30-6pm. Chanukah is not just about latkes! The custom of cheese for Chanukah stems from the Book of Judith, a celebrated Jewish heroine who saved her village by distracting the Assyrian army’s general with wine and salty cheese. Make Maccabee shields of valor. Sing Chanukah songs with Ari Marcovksi. Build a giant menorah from boxes of macaroni and cheese to be donated to the Arlington Food pantry. Mac & Cheese snack served. Please feel free to drop off boxes of macaroni and cheese for donation to Ready, Set, Kids! any time up until the event. Geared for families with young children. No charge. Register at bostonjcc.org/MNChanukah2015. For more information, contact metronorth@jccgb.org or 617-841-8009 or visit ready-set-kids.com. All JCC arts and humanities offerings are programs of the Ryna Greenbaum JCC Center for the Arts.
