This year for Temple Emunah’s KERUV (Outreach) Shabbat, Saturday, November 19, our guest speaker will be Mr. Mark Mettler, who will talk about his experience as the parent of a transgender child. Services will begin at 9:30 AM and Mark will speak at the time normally reserved for the D’var Torah. A Kiddush lunch will be served following services, during which Mark will do a Q&A session during.

Mark Mettler is currently on sabbatical from a corporate retail career, recently leaving Staples after 8 years as an senior vice president for merchandising, to focus more of his energy on advocacy and support for the LGBTQ+ community. Mark has been associated with Greater Boston PFLAG for over 5 years, a member of the board since 2014, and board chair since July 2015. Mark also serves on the Massachusetts Commission for LGBTQ youth, on the safe schools committee.

Mark and his wife Lauren are the owners of European Manor (a home furnishings boutique in Wellesley), and parents to two children, the younger of whom, Maxie, is transgender.
