The focus for the Social Justice Beit Midrash in May will be immigration. On 3-May, we will frame through text study the Torah’s imperative to welcome the stranger. On 17-May, our primary teacher for the evening will be Jenna Pollock. Part of our own community, Jenna has been working in Texas as a lawyer to help women and children fleeing Central American violence. Imprisoned in “family detention centers,” many of these women and children will be deported back to the violence they sought to flee. Please join us to engage with text and context toward a more humane response to those seeking refuge in our country.
