Sukkot Building on the Hill

October 5, 2014

Celebrate the fall season with Havurah on the Hill as we build two sukkot on the Vilna Shul patio as part of the annual Jewish celebration of the fall harvest.

The fun starts at 3:00pm when we raise the supports, hoist up the walls, and string up the symbols of the season to get the shul ready for our annual Shabbat in the Sukkah on Friday, October 10.

A light dairy pizza dinner will be provided (please RSVP to ensure enough pizza is purchased). No previous sukkah building experience necessary.

**Please note, validated parking is available at the Charles River Plaza, located on 181 Cambridge St Boston, MA 02114. With validation, the cost of parking for this event is $5.

See you there!

More about sukkot and Sukkot!
A “sukkah” (plural: sukkot) is the name of the temporary open-aired, thatch-roofed hut that is built for the observance of the week-long festival of Sukkot. The holiday commemorates the experience of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness after being freed from slavery in Egypt. Traditionally Jews eat, sleep, and generally live in the sukkah for the duration of the holiday.
