Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters’ to host “grand slam” event

Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Volunteer Grand Slam, hosted by its Friend 2 Friend Steering Committee, seeks to attract prospective volunteers to the agency’s one-to-one mentoring and friendship programs through a night’s worth of mixing and mingling with current volunteers.

“Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters is a place where young professionals come to connect with other people who care about making a difference,” says Lily Siegel, JBBBS’ Senior Outreach Specialist. “It’s one thing for me to tell you that. It’s a whole other thing for a current volunteer, or their match, to talk about what being matched means to them. Who better to tell their story than those who actually know how much fun it is?”

Each year, JBBBS engages over 500+ volunteers as Big Brothers, Sisters and Friends. It seeks to expand its reach by attracting additional volunteers to its ranks.

The Grand Slam takes place September 20, at 6:30pm at Blazing Paddles on Lansdowne Street with raffle prizes, snacks, first drink, ping pong and corn hole on JBBBS. The event is open to ages 21+ with valid ID, who wish to learn more about volunteer opportunities at JBBBS. In particular, the event highlights the need for volunteer support for waiting participants in its programs for adults with disabilities, but staff will also be available to discuss youth mentoring opportunities.
