Eser alum, committee member and group leader Sarah Kirshenbaum shares why she got involved – and stays involved – with the Eser program.

Happy New Year! January is almost over – it’s crunch time for focusing on your New Year resolutions before they fall off your radar. If any of your resolutions were about getting more involved in the Jewish Community, thinking more about your Jewish identity, or learning more about Jewish topics with your peers, then get yourself to a computer and register for ESER!

Eser is a program that brings together young adults from all backgrounds to explore a Jewish-themed set of Top Ten topics that change each year. This year we will be engaging in conversations about the lives of some of the most interesting and influential Jews in history. I’m proud to be on the committee that selected this theme and the 10 people for this year’s list (for a satirized view into how the selection process worked see our video).

I’ve been involved with Eser for three years now – first as a participant and then as a committee member. Throughout my experience with Eser I loved having the opportunity to dialogue about Judaism with other young adults. I really appreciated being able to learn from others and to continue to explore my own Jewish identity. There is a structure to this program that is open-minded and allows folks from so many different backgrounds to be part of intellectual conversations. Plus, you get to have awesome Shabbat dinners, and to develop friendships with other Jewish young adults right in your neighborhood.

Whether your resolution is about beginning or continuing your Jewish Education journey this group will meet your needs.
