Hillel, the center for Jewish life on campus, is the largest and most exciting student organization at Boston University.
Students work hard to build connections and strengthen relationships with other campus communities, and have made Hillel an integral part of BU’s social, cultural, educational, political, and religious life. In the spring of 2013, Hillel won Boston University’s Excellence in Student Activities award.
The Florence & Chafetz Hillel House is a fabulous facility with great space and an amazing dining room, and is open to everyone. The physical space of BU Hillel is more than just beautiful; it reflects an essential philosophy, informed by tradition and open to change.
The Jewish community at BU prides itself on being pluralistic and fluid. Its different communities and interest groups overlap and enrich each other. Students come from a variety of backgrounds, both ideologically and in their Jewish experience.
Hillel isn’t a club to join, but rather a connection to explore. Students have incredible freedom to create programming portraying their Jewish identity or their exploration of that identity. Hillel is yours to own and build or just to partake of; student involvement can be central, in policy decisions or programming, or it can simply be occasional attendance.
Either way, Hillel is there for you.
