Neal brings with him more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit management and has most recently worked as a consultant to several nonprofits, providing insights for strategic planning and sustainable resource development. In line with the school’s goals to build on their already strong position in the Jewish Community, Neal will serve as a key player in Rashi’s advancement efforts.

“We are delighted to welcome Neal to Rashi,” says Head of School, Mallory Rome. “He brings such depth of knowledge of non-profit organizations, passion for education, and expertise in strategic thinking. These strengths will advance Rashi’s future as the Boston area Reform Jewish K-8 independent school offering an outstanding academic experience infused with Jewish values.”

As Director of Development, Neal will assume responsibility for the school’s development operation and will work with school and community leadership to ensure sustainable fundraising and institutional advancement.

“I am thrilled to join the kehillah at The Rashi School, which is renown nationally as a unique and singular community-building institution,” said Neal. “I started my career in informal Jewish education so in many ways it feels as though I’ve come full circle from my early work.”

A resident of Israel for over 40 years, Neal has held several leadership positions in organizations that rely on successful partnerships between Israel and the Jewish world including the Hadassah Youth Center and Young Judaea Israel Programs in Jerusalem, the Yitzhak Rabin Center in Tel Aviv, the Israel Center of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, and the College of Management – Academic Studies, Israel’s largest and first accredited college. In addition, he served as Executive Director of the late Jerusalem mayor Teddy Kollek’s re-election campaign headquarters and municipal faction “One Jerusalem” in 1988-89, and accompanied then San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom on his first visit to Israel in 2008. He holds a MA degree in Non-Profit Management from American Jewish University and BA degrees in Psychology and Near East Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.

He is the proud father of two children: Ro’ee, his son, is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics from Yale University and Michal, his daughter, is a content strategist at Facebook Tel Aviv.
