Moishe Kavod Jewish Social Justice House

Moishe House Boston: Kavod Jewish Social Justice House is an innovative grassroots organization, striving to create a welcoming and vibrant Jewish community for people in their 20s and 30s, and to connect them with social action and community-building opportunities in Boston and beyond.

Inclusive – We believe communities are stronger when they include people from many backgrounds.
Jewish – We believe the Jewish tradition offers meaningful lessons and rituals that can deepen our lives and guide our work for justice. We welcome Jews from across the religious spectrum.
Progressive – We care about social justice and the environment, and believe change is possible when we work together.
Leadership Development Oriented – We believe each person has something to offer, and that everyone can learn to be a leader who makes our community stronger.

SHABBAT
Join us twice monthly for lay-led, egalitarian Shabbat services, followed by a delicious vegetarian potluck dinner. Services are led by different people each week. Hechshered food is available if we get advance notice. To learn more, email moishehouseboston@gmail.com

NEW MOON/ROSH CHODESH CIRCLES
Since ancient times, Rosh Chodesh – or new moon – has been considered a sacred time for women. Each month we gather to greet the new moon, learning, creating and sharing intentions for the time ahead. Different women lead each month, and past programs have included: mask-making, massage and energy exchanges, yoga, freestyling, and a visit to the Peace Abbey in Sherborn, MA. If you would like to join the Rosh Chodesh email list, please write to newmoonkavod@gmail.com.

HOUSING JUSTICE
Each month we canvass with a City Life/Vida Urbana to inform folks facing foreclosure of their rights and help them organize for justice. Email moishehouseboston@gmail.com to find out more.

We use a "lay" system to clean up our shabbat dinners. If somebody approaches you with a Hawaiian "lei" necklace, its your turn to do dishes!
