Congregation Kahal B'raira
Kahal B'raira, is Boston’s Congregation of Secular Humanistic Jews. Humanistic Judaism embraces a philosophy that combines rational thinking with a celebration of Judaic history, culture and identity. We celebrate Jewish holidays and life cycle events (such as weddings and bar and bat mitzvah) with inspirational ceremonies that draw upon but seek to go beyond traditional literature. We celebrate Shabbat and sponsor social and educational programs on a scheduled basis throughout the year. We meet on 15 Sundays per year for children’s school and adult programs. Kahal B’raira welcomes members to our congregation who come from a variety of backgrounds: Interfaith families, traditional families, gay and lesbian, singles and seniors and people who are seeking a home in the Jewish community that truly fits them. We believe our community is enriched by the contributions of this diverse membership. Our community is warm, welcoming and participatory. Members work on all services and programs and shape the congregation and its activities. We are members of the Society of Humanistic Judaism and members of a worldwide movement for Humanistic Judaism.
