- Ruth Kapp Hartz, holocaust educator, on her childhood experience
- Jordan and Sarai Warsoff, Ruth’s grandchildren, on carrying on the legacy
This intergenerational evening tells an interfaith story as it explores the role of the righteous gentiles, the Catholics in the south of France who risked their lives to save Ruth, her family, and many other Jews.
Speakers Jordan and Sarai live locally. Jordan is a 2011 graduate of Brandeis University and Sarai is in her senior year there.

WHO: Ruth Kapp Hartz is a graduate of the University of Paris (Sorbonne). After surviving the horrors of World War II as a young child in France, she immigrated to the US in 1958. She taught French for over thirty years at the high school and college levels. Ruth is the subject of the memoir Your Name is Renée, written in Ruth’s childhood voice by her former student, Stacy Cretzmeyer, and author of A Legacy of Goodness, the story of her French rescuers during World War II. Ruth has received awards for her contributions to Holocaust Education.
She now spends much of her time speaking to groups in pursuit of her holocaust education mission. She is a member of the PA Holocaust Education Council and the American Association of Teachers of French, and she serves on the board of the Holocaust Awareness Museum in Philadelphia.
