Have you ever wanted to step back in time? To not only see what life was like at another time, but to also hear it and feel it? Well, then I invite you to join the Vilna Shul, Boston’s Center for Jewish Culture for lay-led, egalitarian adult or Young Family High Holidays this year (and of course for one or more of our many exciting cultural programs for all ages!)

Our historic Beacon Hill building was built nearly 100 years ago by immigrants from present-day Vilnius, Lithuania. Back then, over 50 similar buildings dotted the city’s landscape. Today? Just one remains – ours! When you step through our doors, you are instantly transported to a time when Boston’s Jewish community was just gaining its foothold in its new surroundings. As time passed, the downtown community moved west and dwindled, and the Vilna was abandoned for years. With the help of many, it has been re-invigorated and brought back to life as a bustling cultural and spiritual home, deeply connected to its past while very much looking forward.

I invite you to start the New Year with us in our historic sanctuary, and feel the power of community that the building was built to foster. Be a part of the resurgence of energy taking place here, and deeply feel your connection to our shared past, linked so closely with the community today. I hope to see you soon!
