Organized by Weston High School sophomore Zach Swartz (pictured above, center), the Fun Run was held on May 7th and took participants on a 5K route through Weston, Massachusetts.

Runners asked friends, family and businesses to sponsor their participation and JFS of Metrowest (JFS)  is thrilled to report that the first ever Fun Run was a tremendous success, with twenty-three runners registering for the event, collectively raising $1,752.00!

The goal of the Fun Run was to raise money for the JFS Donate a Backpack event which provides school supplies to students in need.  An initiative of the JFS Reducing Achievement Gaps Program, the annual Backpack event is held in August before the start of school and offers an opportunity for families and local organizations to help disadvantaged students start the year off right.

This year’s Backpack event will be held at two locations, first on Monday August 22nd at the Wellesley Free Public Library and then on Tuesday August 23rd at the Framingham Public Library.  Click here to learn more about this year’s Backpack event.

Thanks again to Zach Swartz and his team for their hard workand for helping JFS stand up for students left behind!
