Basketball Belles.jpgMarch is Women’s History month, and is a great opportunity to uncover the stories of girls and women who’ve made contributions throughout history that impact our everyday lives. We are excited to feature a title for younger reader’s this month which illustrates the power of women athletes. Basketball Belles by Sue Macy (Author) and Matt Collins (Illustrator) tells the story of Agnes Morley. Agnes was a cattle rancher turned star athlete who brought her brand of rugged, scrappy basketball to Stanford University where she led her team to victory in the first-ever women s college basketball game. This fun and fast paced story will ignite the competitive spirit in any reader, and offers a wonderful model of how women can be leaders, competitors and students, on and off the court.
