SIG members meet before or after JGSGB programs at Temple Emanuel. Members exchange information, share resources to help each other with personal genealogical research and present their findings.

Bessarabia expert Yefim Kogan leads both the international JewishGen and local JGSGB SIG groups. Kogan was born in Kishinev, Moldova, USSR and emigrated to the US in 1989. He has presented his extensive genealogical and historical research at international conferences and to local Jewish and Russian communities.Bessarabia Yofim

In 2011 Kogan organized the JewishGen Bessarabia SIG, one of the most comprehensive sources  for references, databases, vital records, maps, special projects and more. It has over 700 members in 24 countries. He has coordinated the local JGSGB group since 2013.
