Hummus! Bagels! Beef tongue! And so much more: The Jewish Arts Collaborative sponsors the second annual Taste of Israel Restaurant Week from Jan. 28 until Feb. 4, with events at restaurants throughout the city and beyond.
Participating restaurants concoct three to five special dishes just for Taste of Israel; there are also musical performances and cultural events.
Kendall Square’s Mamaleh’s Delicatessen hosts a live podcast recording with our very own JewishBoston.com on Jan. 28, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. Co-hosts Miriam Anzovin and Dan Seligson will chat with chef Michael Leviton, chair of Taste of Israel Restaurant Week; Rachel Sundet, owner and pastry chef at Mamaleh’s Delicatessen; Avi Shemtov, owner and chef at The Chubby Chickpea and Simcha; and Ilan Barniv, owner and chef at BONAPITA Mediterranean Bakery & Grill. Then visit Cambridge’s Craigie on Main on Jan. 29 for a multi-course feast inspired by chef Tony Maws’s and Leviton’s Israeli travels. For $85, try house-smoked sablefish, Yemenite-spiced beef soup (tongue and cheek), carrots in Turkish spices and chicken liver sauce, harissa-rubbed lamb and more.
On Jan. 30, Bow Market’s Comedy Studio hosts a cocktail and boureka pop-up beginning at 5 p.m. at its Variety Bar, with provisions from chef Louis DiBiccari (Humaari) and a show with Israeli comedians starting at 8 p.m. Drink up!
